General Manager, Marco Polo Wuhan

Responsibility

  • Drive overall business performance for Wuhan Marco Polo Hotel by setting clear commercial priorities across rooms, food & beverage, and events, ensuring sustainable revenue growth and market share gains.
  • Lead and execute integrated Sales, Marketing, Revenue and Distribution strategies to strengthen the hotel’s brand presence, optimize channel mix, and improve rate integrity and profitability.
  • Safeguard and enhance the Marco Polo brand name by ensuring all guest touchpoints, communications and partnerships reflect brand positioning, quality expectations, and local market relevance.
  • Champion service excellence by establishing and monitoring measurable service standards, guest experience KPIs and recovery practices to improve guest satisfaction, loyalty, and online reputation.
  • Ensure full compliance with Wharf Hotels’ brand standards, policies, procedures, and governance requirements, maintaining strong audit readiness and operational discipline.
  • Manage the property as a long-term asset: maintain building and facilities standards, deliver approved capital expenditure projects on time and budget, and uplift the hotel’s physical product and competitive positioning.
  • Build a high-performing culture by selecting, developing, and engaging leaders and colleagues through coaching, performance management and training, enabling consistent service delivery and stronger business results.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience as a General Manager in an internationally recognized hotel brand and more than15 years in a senior management role, preferably with high-end full-service hotels. 
  • Extensive exposure and experience in Mainland China/Asian markets, with a well-established local network and strong relationships with key industry partners, corporate accounts, and community stakeholders.
  • Proven experience managing hotel operations in the Mainland China is essential.
  • Conversant with key hotel performance indicators, especially with finance, revenue, and sales & marketing related metrics. Proven track record of building strategy around analytics.
  • Strong stakeholder management capability with proven ability to influence, align and deliver outcomes across owner, corporate office, brand teams, government/authorities, unions (where applicable), business partners, and internal leadership teams.
  • Agile and proactive in instigating revenue growth through planned initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
