Group Director Engineering

Responsibility

  • Provide expert strategic direction and oversight for property maintenance, engineering, and asset protection across the entire portfolio, with a paramount focus on safety, security, and brand standards.
  • Develop, manage, and control the regional CAPEX and OPEX budgets for engineering. Lead the planning and execution of major capital expenditure projects, renovations, and refurbishments.
  • Formulate and implement group-wide strategies for preventative maintenance, energy conservation, and sustainability to enhance guest satisfaction and maximize financial performance.
  • Ensure all properties comply with local government regulations, brand standards, and safety codes. Maintain all necessary building and equipment licenses, permits, and certifications.
  • Act as the regional lead for crisis management and emergency response for all facility-related issues, providing guidance and support to on-property teams.
  • Develop and oversee the execution of long-term (5-10 year) asset protection plans and lifecycle strategies for all hotel physical assets.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and performance management to Chief Engineers and property-based engineering teams to foster technical excellence and leadership development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer license, Certified Facility Manager, or similar international certification is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 12+ years of progressive experience in engineering management, with at least 5-7 years in a multi-property or regional leadership role overseeing luxury hotels.
  • Proven track record in managing multi-million-dollar CAPEX projects and portfolios from planning to execution.
  • Extensive experience with new hotel openings, major renovations, and technical operations for internationally recognized 5-star hotel brands.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic plans for preventative maintenance and energy conservation.
  • Full professional proficiency in English and Mandarin is essential. Knowledge of Cantonese is a strong advantage.
  • Exceptional ability to lead, influence, and develop high-performing teams across diverse cultures and geographies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a proven ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the Asia-Pacific region.
