On April 26, 2026, Niccolo Suzhou hosted ‘Ture Essence of Art’, a special edition of the Niccolo Lectures. The session welcomed three distinguished speakers: Mr. Zhang Yuying, professional artist and curator; Ms. Zhang Wensi, TEDxSuzhou license holder and curator; and Professor Zhao Zhifeng, Associate Dean of the Academy of Arts, Soochow University. From the perspectives of creation, curation and art education, the speakers unpacked the bond between art and life, sharing insights on breaking boundaries, staying true to oneself and growing continuously.
Mr. Zhang Yuying reflected on his artistic journey and creative origins, sharing how warm and pure childhood memories fuel his inspiration. He explained his approach to capturing the innocence and vitality of animals, translating these genuine qualities into delicate, expressive artworks.
Ms. Zhang Wensi delivered a speech to explore how to look beyond superficial forms of art to reconnect creation, communication and human emotion. She emphasized art as a bridge for people to discover themselves and connect with one another.
Professor Zhao Zhifeng spoke about breaking barriers between art and daily life, bringing creativity into ordinary living. He also highlighted how structured art education nurtures young talents to find their authentic voices in the boundless world of art.
